Adventure to the Max!

Primal Quest
This is my dream! I ran the idea by Jennifer this morning and she said I was absolutely crazy and she would not let me do anything so bizarre as go on an "Adventure Race to the Max"-- I liked the way that she described it! Primal Quest is one of the premier events for Adventure Racers and something that I have thought about ever since I first got involved in the sport. Like Ironman, it has to be tackled one step at a time. So I will let you all know what my training plans will look like over the next few months. I will try to do Primal Quest before I am 43. LOL! Seriously, don't you think that this would be too much fun?! Check it out here!

Jordan is safely in Spirit Lake, Idaho and he called me this morning just a bit excited and eager to share the changes since his last visit. I love the way he processes information. I see so much of my brother in my son. Not sure how the genetics all get distributed but there is no denying the obvious in this case. What a blessing for Jordan to be able to spend time with two of my favorite guys, Dad and Daniel!

Jennifer has come with me to work the past three days and has been learning the joys of filing. She has determined that she does NOT want to be a secretary! I think that is wonderful as it should encourage her to pursue her education beyond high school. Speaking of school, the laptops we ordered for this next school year arrived yesterday and Jennifer is 'dying' to open up the boxes and start using them. I have given her certain requirements that she has to meet before she can even look at them. -grin- The small joys!

We have been having some really great times this week and it is so much fun sharing things with her that I normally wouldn't have time for. Yesterday, after getting off from work at 5pm, we went to Culver's and had a bite to eat and over our dinner we worked on our DBI homework and finished one assignment and had a long and deep discussion on persecution of Christians. We have also started doing an indepth study of the minor prophets starting with Joel. It will definitely take us longer than the couple of weeks that Jordan is away but we will take the time to keep it up when he gets back home.

This weekend is going to be one of cleaning house and decluttering. I would like to have the house ready to rent or sell by the end of the summer.

Father's Day with Dad

What a rare opportunity I had to spend most all of Father's Day with my Dad!
I think it is a first in about 30 years! We had a great cook out with Dani, Josh, Sydney, Olivia, JoAnn, and Dad.

I also have one full rain barrel and two over 2/3's full! We haven't gotten that much rain yet so I need to make contingency plans for when they are full!

Another Journey

No, I am not travelling anywhere just yet but I am taking a journey as I read through a book by John Ortberg titled, "If You Want to Walk on Water, You Have to Get Out of the Boat". I will say this much for now, if the rest of the book is as thought provoking as the Preface and first 17 pages then I am certainly in for a wild ride and thoroughly enjoyable journey.

It looks as if Jordan will be going to Idaho after all! For those that have spent any time with him in the past 18 months you already know of his passionate desire to move to Idaho and to be closer to his family there. Well, he will drive back to Spirit Lake with Grandma and Papa and spend a few weeks with them and visiting Uncle Dan, Aunt Jennifer, Andy, and Emily.

Some more pictures!

Going back home

Tonight I fly back to Chicago so I can get back to work tomorrow and Jennifer and Jordan will drive back with Papa and Grandma JoJo. I wish I were driving back too! I have truly enjoyed this visit with my parents and with my family. Derek is no longer my little nephew but has grown into a steady young man. Scary to think about and yet wonderful at the same time. One day my children will be graduating and headed out into the world also. I can wait!

God has certainly blessed me and I am filled with wonder at His grace and love for me!!

Some pictures from our time with Derek and family.

Headed East

We are now on the road for the fourth day. Well, day one was really short we just got out of Chicago area to avoid Monday morning traffic. We are going to pull into Berwick, Maine today to spend some time with Deb, Derek, and Donita. Derek is graduating High School this weekend and we are so glad that we will be able to be there and to see him and celebrate with him! Derek is headed off to the U.S. Air Force in August and it is too easy to to let time go by and before we realize it years have gone by and those we love are all grown up and moved away.

The trip over so far has been nice and relaxed and lots of good visiting and playing games with Grandma and Papa. Kids are having fun and I am too! The drive is absolutely gorgeous and I am sure I wouldn't mind living in any of the places we have past through. There are so many places in these fine United States for me to still see and experience that I could travel the rest of my days and still not see them all. I wouldn't mind trying though. : )
